St. Joseph Visitors Center

St. Joseph, MO
From Known to Unknown

With all due respect to St. Louis and its arch, St. Joseph, Missouri, is the original Gateway to the West—the truly Wild West. The western end of rail service until the end of the Civil War, the eastern starting point for the Pony Express, and the site of Jesse James’ death are just a few of its fascinating claims to historical fame. Eisterhold was tasked with designing a visitors’ center that would reveal and make accessible the full menu of St. Joe’s historical, cultural and natural attractions. Getting visitors stoked for the Fire Museum and mentally prepared for the Glore Psychiatric Museum were just two of the challenges in a city so densely packed with things to do and see.
